David Roberts made artist in residence

BAS member David Roberts has recently been appointed Artist in Residence to the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset Mr Michael Dooley LVO MMs FRCOG. The Lord Lieutenant is the King’s representative in Dorset and performs functions on his behalf. The post is for 12 months during which David will mentor a young artist to take over next year.

David’s first event was the presentation of the King’s award for voluntary service to the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band. David did three sketches during the concert and presentation. Two were presented to the band and the third is being framed and hung in the town council office on behalf of the Mayor of Ferndown.

David says, “There will be many events throughout the year so I will try to attend as many as possible to build a visual diary illustrating the work of the Lord Lieutenant.”
