Gill Hunt

I have had a keen interest in art from an early age, taking ‘O’ and ‘A’ level Art at school and later at Teacher Training College, specialising in the subject and gaining a distinction. It is only since retiring that I have had time to take up art again, attending a variety of art courses and classes.

In 2010 I joined Broadstone Art Society and have been greatly motivated by the workshops and demonstrations as well as the stimulating atmosphere of our working environment.

I am inspired by colour, shape, line and pattern found in nature and still life arrangements and enjoy playing with perspective and design in my work.

Watercolour and acrylic are my preferred media although I have recently experimented with oil paint. Sketchbooks are always taken on holiday and whatever the weather I spend time trying to capture something of the surrounding environment.

I find the works of Matisse, Klimt, Turner, Charles Rennie-Mackintosh, and the Scottish Colourists intriguing and inspiring.

Work has been exhibited and sold at exhibitions in Broadstone, Poole and Wimborne.
