Shaun Forward

Shaun joined the Society in May 2024. He studied Technical Illustration at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art in the 70s and then enjoyed a 50-year career in the graphic design industry.

Now retired, he can find more time to devote to the finer arts and particularly enjoys observational painting and drawing work - outdoors. His preferred subjects would be local coastal and rural scenes - particularly architectural details and small boats.

Shaun enjoys painting with acrylics and drawing in pen & ink, as well as carving linoblocks for limited edition prints. Shaun's style is continually evolving, and although he has traditionally leant towards the more detailed, he now seeks to explore a more impressionistic style with his work. Having discovered ‘urban sketching’ in the autumn of 2023, he also really enjoys being out in the town, drawing architectural subjects from life, with a local group.

Shaun has held two solo exhibitions and had work taken by galleries in both Dorset and Cornwall - something he intends to focus more on, since retiring.

More about Shaun and his various fine art disciplines can be found here. Commissions happily accepted.
