Jeff Bradley

I have loved drawing from childhood. Art became my best subject at school, and I sketched on and off until in my forties I started painting. Having lived by the Solent most of my life and a career as a shipwright (boat and ship building and repairs) naturally seascapes became my first love and remains so. I have developed my interest in other subjects, portraits, classic cars and landscapes to mention a few. Of the paintings shown here, all are sold except the the first.

The first painting is of Maiden, the boat skippered by Tracy Edwards in the 1989 Whitbread Round the World Race with an all girl crew, the first time it had been done. A couple of years ago Tracey took Maiden on a world tour to help raise funds for their charity, The Maiden Factor Trust. The charity supports young girls with life opportunities and also helps with the upkeep of the boat itself. I have donated the painting to the charity and it is to be auctioned later in 2021.

“Kettle Bridge, Cerne Abbas” is a pastel painting that was the result of a BAS art club Tuesday Summer outing.

“The Bait Digger” is an acrylic painting and was inspired by my visits to Poole harbour.  Bait diggers are often seen there at low tide. It was accepted for the RSMA exhibition in London at The Mall Galleries, from which it was purchased.

“Trafalgar” was a commission I painted in acrylics on a 3ft x 4ft canvas.  With research it took nine months to complete.

“The Cypriot Gentleman” came from visits to Cyprus. I thought he had such a distinguished face. The painting was done in pastels, a very forgiving medium. Private Sale.
