Sally Bishton

I joined the society in the autumn of 2021 after an enjoyable summer programme of painting and sketching ‘en plein air’ with them.  We are spoilt for choice as artists in Dorset , stunning landscapes, coastline, pretty villages and towns. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and it has been lovely to make new and like-minded friends.

My artwork includes watercolour painting, ink and wash sketching, pastels and recently I’ve begun experimenting with acrylics. The regular portrait and still life sessions at the society have helped improve my observational skills and the demonstrations and workshops have broadened my horizons into abstract work, mono printing, life drawing and more.

My sketchbook goes with me for urban sketching with another local group which is great fun and sociable, also sailing trips and holidays; the pages make great visual souvenirs of my travels and time spent sketching with friends.
